Expanding Service in Bend: Routes 8 and 9
In 2019, Cascades East Transit identified two new expansion routes to serve parts of Bend never before reached by fixed route public transit. These were proposed as part of our long range planning efforts taking into account new growth in Bend and across Central Oregon, resulting in the 2040 Transit Master Plan. The planning process involved considerable public outreach with community leaders, neighbors, and local businesses. In October 2023, the new Route 9 from 15th Street to Murphy Road was launched.
Final planning considerations are now underway for Route 8 serving Northeast Bend. The route previously considered is likely to change somewhat due to new developments in the area, including the Bend North Corridor Project and the Butler Market Key Routes Project. The new route may launch as soon as 2025 following completion of these heavy construction projects.
