CET was awarded a Pacific Power grant to fund an Electric Technology Feasibility Study, which will create a strategic roadmap toward future fleet electrification. The study will provide insight into the following areas:
- Partner involvement best practices to ensure effective stakeholder engagement and collaboration that will foster a successful community-wide transition toward electric technology
- Operational review of CET’s routes to recommend where battery electric buses could efficiently operate in CET’s system and understand potential service changes to make more routes feasible
- Facilities and equipment evaluation to determine the necessary charging infrastructure to support CET’s future electric fleet, as well as the overall electric grid system improvements necessary to support large users, like a transit agency
- Fleet and maintenance market assessment of available battery electric buses suitable for CET’s transit needs, as well as an overview of the operational reliability and maintenance costs/requirements of the various manufacturers
- Financial and economic analysis to highlight public and private funding opportunities and provide a recommendation for the most cost effective procurement model for CET (energy as a service versus independent ownership)
