Phase 2 construction at Hawthorne Station is complete today with the opening of new bus platforms on the north side of (behind) Hawthorne Station and improved pedestrian access. Landscaping and electrical work continues and the new platforms will begin use on Monday, September 30.
With these new bus platforms, riders can expect the first reconfiguration of CET’s bus platform layout. The new bus platforms are designated A and B. See the diagram below for all platform designation changes.
Community Connector buses will begin to use Platform A starting Monday, September 30. This includes Routes 24 to Redmond, 29 to Sisters, and 30 to La Pine.
Regional routes including CO Breeze, Pacific Crest Bus Lines, and the POINT will begin using Platform B on Monday, September 30.
Phase 3 construction also begins on Monday, September 30. This phase will close the driveway in front of Hawthorne Station and intermittently close sidewalks and bus platforms on Hawthorne Avenue for construction. Access to the lobby and restrooms at Hawthorne Station will remain open during construction and all bus operations will continue.
Local bus routes serving Bend (Routes 1 through 11) may relocate to different platforms on Hawthorne Avenue during Phase 3 construction. Please check our Service Alerts page for current statuses.
This final phase of construction will complete work on the south end of our driveway and add modern bus shelters and amenities. It also removes all transit facilities (bus stops and shelters) on the south side (Safeway side) of Hawthorne Avenue. Once Phase 3 is complete, the driveway in front of Hawthorne Station will be capable of serving five buses at brand new platforms (F and G) off of the street.
